Miyuki wondered... there was so much they didn't know, but that was probably because they didn't quite understand white elf society. Mailon would know, but Miyuki was too afraid to ask what he thought was the reason for the constant pursuit, lest she not like the answer.

A tugging at her wrist pulled her out of her thoughts and she looked down to see Suki. Suki trilled at her a few times, waving her ribbons around.

"Yea.. I guess there's no point in dwelling about it right now," Miyuki agreed.

Suki, happy she got through to her master ambered over to bug Daenis since she had never really met this one before.

Though Daenis had been with the group for several days already, she had never been introduced to the Pokemon. She had seen a few of them off and on in passing, but that was it - with all the traveling they'd been doing, which was something she had never done before, she had been so exhausted by the end of each day that she had gone straight to her bed and straight to sleep each night, and in the mornings they had gotten going so quickly that the Pokemon hadn't been out much. She had learned a bit about them, or course - who wouldn't do what they could to learn all they could about such strange creatures with whom they were traveling? - but she hadn't spent any time with them.

"Hello," she murmured softly, reaching one hand down to pet Suki on the head - something she had found that even the unicorns who were her friends had enjoyed. "You're Suki, aren't you?"

Mailon had pointed out each of the Pokemon to her, telling her their names, and as she had proven when she had been introduced so hurriedly to the rest of the group with which she was traveling, she was quite good with remembering names and facts.

Suki chirped in response as wrapped her ribbons around Daenis' hand as if to greet her. She was quite happy to be petted and to meet this new person.

"Suki is quite the social butterfly," Miyuki commented softly.

Not that she minded, the Pokemon made a good ice breaker at times.

Daenis looked up at Miyuki curiously, keeping her hand where it was since Suki's ribbons were wrapped around it.

"Social butterfly?" she repeated the unfamiliar phrase. And more than the phrase was unfamiliar to her - she had never seen or heard of a butterfly either, so the imagery made no sense at all to her.

Miyuki opened her mouth, closed it again and thought about it. Did they even have flowers up here? Instead she leaned back and held out a hand. Since working on illusions to tell stories she had become good at doing it on the fly. Tendrils of magic floated up like wisps of clouds until the image of a butterfly appeared.

"They're winged creatures, that like to fly from flower to flower gathering nectar that is inside of them," Miyuki explained as she showed a butterfly doing so, the image morphed to an elven girl in a crowd of people going from person to person as if to say hello, "Very much like the way a person socializes, so we call them a social butterfly. It means to like to talk to other people or like to socialize with many people."

Daenis' eyes opened wide, and she leaned forward to see better the illusions that Miyuki was creating. She had never seen anything like it before: the magic, the creature, the plants - even the crowds were something that was completely new to her. It amazed her, intrigued her, and made her want more than ever to see it, to be a part of it all.

"They are a beautiful creature," she murmured, her tone filled with awe. "I think I understand now."

She looked down at Suki and smiled at her. "Well, perhaps you could teach me the skill," she said warmly. "I think I still have trouble with that."

Considering how little social contact she had had in her lifetime, that could hardly have come as a surprise to anyone who heard the comment. She had grown up surrounded by power-hungry, violent people, and for as long as she had been able, she had been avoiding them, trying to get away from them. She really did not know what it was like to be around anyone who was different from them, though she was finding it a great pleasure to discover it.

"I'm glad, if you ever need clarification just ask," Miyuki smiled, "In fact depending on where we travel and the time of year, you might even get to see a few."

Her mother still tended to attract them, but most places they had traveled to lacked butterflies or they weren't in season or both. Though a rare sight, from what little Miyuki could remember it was always amusing. Just not for her mother.

They kept chatting, and by ones, twos and threes the rest of the group joined them in the kitchen for some breakfast. Kyrie was kept busy at the stove, and then Wren offered to help her, and once everyone had gathered, they discussed their options for the day.

Several points were made and each of them discussed. They needed to know what the weather was doing now, if they were still being pursued, and if so, where their pursuers were at the moment. That was the case no matter what they might do. And so, after a brief discussion, Lancaeriel offered (and was encouraged) to sense if anyone was nearby, with the position that only if she sensed no one near would someone risk looking outside to check the weather.

When it was confirmed that there was no one in the vicinity (which made sense, considering the protections on the tent), Mailon stepped outside to check the weather. It was overcast and snowing lightly, and they were nestled between two deep drifts of snow - each of them near eight or more feet high - but it was judged safe for them to travel. Despite that, for the sake of speed (and comfort, in some cases), several people stayed inside the tent while they traveled: Iorlas and Amir, Lancaeriel (to keep working on the greenhouse spaces), Shiro and Kaito and Andarien. This of course meant they could travel more quickly, and once everyone was ready, they packed up the tent and started off.

After another week, Mailon, Kyrie and Lancaeriel were all ready to declare the group 'no longer being pursued', and those who, until now, had been staying more or less inside the tent came out to walk with the others.

Now that they were no longer being chased they could focus on just traveling and getting Daenis use to everyone for real. It was one thing when they did that quick introduction, but a completely other thing to have her get to know them and them get to know her.

It also allowed Miyuki to have her Pokemon out, even if it was just Suki. Ai was still nesting and Yasu just left deep trails in the snow since he tended to melt the fluffy white stuff. In fact if he stood for too long he would eventually just sink to the solid ground leaving a snow hole in his wake.

"So where are we heading to next?" Lin inquired as they settled into a routine pace.

As usual, attention was turned to Kyrie when the question of their route came up.

"It will take us probably close to a month," she replied unapologetically, "but we will continue north-west around what villages we might encounter until we arrive in Friesia, a nation of Fire Elves."

She turned to Lin and smiled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Before you get too excited about the idea of warmth, I should warn you that Friesia is the northernmost country on this continent, and colder even than Jielam. By the time we arrive it will be close to midsummer, but unless we're near one of their fields or gardens, it will be quite cool. And by that time," she added, almost as an afterthought, "the sun will no longer be setting. Between the middle of Spring and the middle of Autumn, the sun does not set at all."

"That will probably start in the next two weeks or so," Daenis spoke up knowingly. She had lived her entire life in this area, after all, so who would know better?

"What do you mean it'll be cool unless we're near their fields or gardens?" Miyuki asked.

That wording seemed odd unless those areas were artificially creating heat, but it was hard to imagine it outside of a greenhouse.

Kyrie chuckled softly. "They are Fire Elves. Rather than relying on the hunt, they have the ability to create areas where plants can grow no matter the season by surrounding them with fire. Fire Fields, some call them. Rather dangerous for those who are not immune to fire, but handy for them."

Daenis looked nervous at the thought of so much fire. As a White Elf, one who was attuned to ice and snow, fire was a daunting thing.

"It would be very handy while living here," Miyuki admitted, "And with a lot of sun during part of the season they must get quite the crop."

Though she wondered what type of plants did they grow? They did import some seeds from other places or were they plants that normally grew here? What did grow here anyways? Now there was a curious thought.

Also since they didn't have to depend much on hunting if at all there might even be a chance they had a lot of vegetable based dishes.

"Yes," Kyrie murmured absently, glancing up at the sky. "They do quite well."

Daenis wondered what that would be like. She had grown up entirely on meat, and hadn't even known there were even plants to eat until meeting the group she was now with.

And so they continued on, relaxed and cheerful now that they weren't being pursued, and in the end, though they did have to hide a few times from other groups of White Elves, it was a rather enjoyable journey.
