"Then are ye certain we're the ones ye want?" Zoltan frowned, leaning forward now. "An' no' some group o' clerics or some such?"

Wouldn't those with divine abilities be best equipped to deal with undead? None in this group had any such abilities, as far as he knew.

"It would be difficult to get enough clerics at the right experience level to do this," Risa admitted, "I would have want to send Pax with you, but he's on a request right now."

"The only reason why we agreed to this request is because there will technically be five people going. One who will keep camp and be driver if anything goes wrong, and an extra person with you into this area," Kevan added, "In addition, we're depending on the fact the object responsible can be made inert. It might not get rid of everything it's summoned but it will stop more from being summoned."

Sir Landon added to this conversation, understanding why there was hesitancy in taking this request.

"We have consulted both guilds when making these arrangements, we are trust their choice on the matter. It would have been nice if Sir Pax was here, but it's understandable that he has other duties."

"So who else will be comin' wi' us?" Zoltan asked, his frown deepening slightly, suspicion edging his voice ever so slightly.

Aeris looked at the four who had come from the town in the first place. Would any of them be joining them?

Risa looked at Kevan and Kevan looked at Risa, the two blinked at each other and nodded at this.

"Allen will be joining you, he's a ranger you've not met, but you're already familiar with his brother Asim," Risa replied.

"Allen will be the cart driver and the one to oversee the camp. He has the experience needed that he can help run the night watch when you all return to camp so you have at least one fresh person with you at all times at night," Kevan added, "His student will be the one coming with you. Their experience is about on par with Reed's."

Which meant that this person was more experienced than Aeris, but less experienced than Zoltan. Though with Zoltan's military experience, that wasn't hard for him to do.

"An' his name is ...?" Zoltan pressed, arching one eyebrow.

"Don't be grumpy, Zoltan," Aeris chided him quietly, elbowing him in the shoulder. "I'm sure this person will be just fine."

"Zoltan," Risa spoke up quietly, "If you do not wish to take the request, you just need to say the word. There is a private reason why you're not being told now, please respect that."

The cheery smile that the group had come to know from Risa was gone and she looked at the dwarf with a mixture of seriousness and disappointment. Kevan was stalk still as if he wasn't trying to fidget as it was unbecoming of a guild master.

The merchants to their credit just looked on with their emotions under wraps. They did not speak up or try to convince the group to take the job, they just waited to see what would happen.

"I don' min' takin' the job," Zoltan shrugged, "I jes' like knowin' who I'm goin' te be takin' the job with."

Aeris let out her breath slowly and looked around at the others around them. It seemed his comment/question had brought a change to the air in the room.

"Zoltan, even if you knew the name you won't know anything about this person anyways," Reed pointed out how stubborn Zoltan was being.

Even if it had been Pax, they didn't know anything about Pax. Well, he and Aeris knew a bit, but Zoltan didn't, so the bard didn't understand why the dwarf was being so difficult when Risa had already pointed out it was private.

"It is private Zoltan, not until the day you leave," Risa told him.

Until now, Zoltan had been curious, but now he was starting to feel a bit prickly.

"I had'ne realized thet askin' a name would be so troublesome," he growled slightly.

He had difficulties enough trusting people, let alone when it was made clear to him that secrets were being kept.

"Zoltan," Aeris murmured to him, leaning towards him to be closer to his height, "They've already said there are reasons for not revealing this person's name. We will find out eventually. And you won't be alone, you'll be with me and Reed, too. You trust us, right?"

He glared at her and replied with a slow, almost hesitant, "Aye ...."

She smiled at him. "Then trust us. It'll be fine."

Zoltan still wasn't happy about it, but he sat back in his chair again with a barely audible humph.

Risa's eyes narrowed but she kept her peace, while the merchants tried their best to not express their discomfort. It was not unusual in the business for things to be on a need to know basis, and so this was making them a bit uncomfortable.

"Then we're in agreement?" Kevan finally spoke up.

"If Miss Aeris, Mister Reed and Mister...Zoltan are fine with this arrangement then yes," Sir Samuel spoke up, "We are fine with this arrangement."

Zoltan looked around at the others at the table, and only after a long, hard stare did he give a barely perceptible nod.

Aeris let out her breath and smiled. "Yes. How much time will we have to prepare, and where will we receive our supplies?"

She had been worried for a moment that it wasn't going to work out, and she was glad Zoltan seemed to have gotten control of himself.

Reed also let out a breath of relief, because that could have gone pretty badly.

"Glimmer Quarry is to the east," Sir Samuel explained, "The cart and horses will be at the East Gate, we have already been working for a tenday before making a formal request on this so everything should be ready by tomorrow morning. The journey will be roughly a month to the town and back again."

"The plan is to go east for at least two tenday and then cross the border, as there have been reports of bordering crossing issues closest to Oak Glen, so it should prevent those issues from occurring," Risa explained.

"What kind of issues?" Aeris asked, purely out of curiosity, as she imagined it would have no real bearing on their mission.

Then she realized part of her question hadn't been answered. "Oh, and will we receive the potions and other provisions with the cart and horses tomorrow then? Or will we need to see the Lord Protector for those?"

Since that was what they had done with their previous missions.

"The past requests have been at the Lord Protector's home because he was the one giving the requests," Risa explained, "The healing potions will be in the cart along with the other supplies that will help you on your journey. As for the issues, the border which is directly south of us is part of a territory is ruled by Duke Fulford, he has been tightening travel within his territory though we're not sure why at the moment. There does not seem to be anything coming from the capitol that suggests this is necessary. But it's proved problematic enough that it would be just better to go to the next territory over."

Which was why they were going to travel two tenday to the east first before crossing the border.

"Ah, I see," Aeris nodded, half-smiling. She would have done a full smile, but it did seem odd that there would be difficulties crossing a border where there ought to be no reason for it.

"Then I have no other questions," she said, looking around at everyone.

Zoltan just grunted his agreement, though he still didn't look particularly pleased.

"Hopefully issues with Duke Fulford's territory will be resolved," Risa added with a sigh, "We have no issues with the neighbouring kingdom, but that's politics for you."

It sounded like Risa was a bit more familiar with the politics than she would like to be.

"At any rate, that should be it for now, and the guild will note you'll be on this quest for two months at best, but will note six months because things happen. Hopefully that won't be the case."

"So make sure to bring all the comforts of home, because we won't be seeing it for a while," Aeris giggled, trying to make a joke.

Zoltan couldn't help but smile a little bit about it, though he shook his head at it too.

"Then we'd best be gettin' anethin' we care te bring with us," he said, pushing his chair back and hopping to the floor. "If ye'll excuse me, I've some shoppin' te do."

Trusting that the meeting was over, he left.

Once he was out of the room, Aeris sighed sadly. "Please forgive him, he isn't very trusting," she apologized to their hosts.
