Zoltan had seemed to cover the plan pretty well, though Risa, who was making sure the campfire was truly out, spoke up with a different suggestion.

"You know... Mid Summer is coming up in a few days," Risa commented.

Mid Summer was one of five festivals (six if you include Shield Day), that was generally celebrated no matter what country the person was in. They were five floating days that landed in between months. For Mid Summer, it was inbetween Summertide (the month they were in) and Highsun.

"If we rested just a bit in town today and find the fire beetles, we could leave tomorrow and be back in Fox Grove in time for the festival. It looks like a nicer place to celebrate in rather than the mining town."

"You know... I forgot that the festival was almost here," Reed commented.

Zoltan just shrugged as he packed things away. "If tha's wha' ye'd like te do," he said.

Aeris came to join them, helping to pack things up. "What do you think the festival will be like?" she asked Risa.

"Hmm... I don't know," Risa admitted, "I've always heard that how a city, town or village celebrates the festival is different."

She seemed to consider this for a moment, before explaining to Aeris.

"In Oak Glen, traveling performers come into town, and in the town square stalls are set up with food and games. The local merchants who spend a lot of time in Oak Glen donate items for the games so the prizes tend to be quite good. There's more of the same within the Merchant Guild, but not as many stalls as a normal market day. Only people who sell things related to summer tend to run their stalls on that day. The Bard's Guild often have music competitions during festival days, and the Mage's Guild invites anyone who knows how to use illusions to create night displays as part of a competition there. Father says we're a bit spoiled having five major guilds in town, because then we get a lot of entertainment and the like. Did your home celebrate Mid Summer? What was it like?"
