"I wanted to make sure they could have extras if they want," Lin replied holding still so Earendil could take the top ones.
She couldn't really see all that well with all the blankets in her arms.
"We're a bit spoiled with the tent now, but I do at least recall how it is sleeping on the ground."

"It is pretty hard to forget," Earendil agreed with a smile as he took some of the blankets from her. He turned to the others. "Here, take what you need. We have our own inside still."
"Thank you," the men said gratefully as they each reached for some blankets.
One of the men, rather than going for the blankets, instead focused on the ground. He put his hands on the ground where he had been sitting, and with a slight rumble, part of the ground began to rise, creating an elf-sized bed-shaped surface, with a slight dip in the middle and a raised round rock pillow. When that was done, he did three more, so that each of the four of them would have somewhere comfortable to sleep.
As the men were spreading blankets over their rock beds, Kyrie emerged from the tent, her arms full of wood. She had stepped out backwards so that the wood wouldn't catch on the fabric of the tent and tear it, but once she was out she turned around to watch where she was going.
"Kyrie?" said one of the men, blinking in surprise. Immediately, the other men turned to look.

Lin didn't batter an eyelash at the beds (though she thought they were really cool). They had known they were traveling through earth elf territory and Eron had mentioned about the earth made beds. What did surprise her was that the men seemed to know their guide.
"You all know each other?" she asked curiously.

"Not all," Kyrie replied, setting the wood down, "but I do know these two." She gestured towards the man who had made the beds, and a second man who had a broadsword strapped to his back. "Sabor and Uri." Her brow furrowed anxiously. "It was your village that was hit?"
The man named Sabor grimaced. "Thankfully only our fields were burnt, but most of the men from the village were killed when we came after the beast." He gestured towards the men that Kyrie didn't already know. "Jabek, our leader, and Talmon, our best archer."
The men nodded their greetings, but they were either too tired or too down to participate in the conversation.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Lin frowned, the names sounded familiar but she didn't know why. The reason was because she had been eavesdropping when Eron had talked about the hunting group he and Shoneah had run into. He was actually talking to Miyuki, who had wanted to know the circumstances of them being there.
Seeing as the kitsune was learning more about portals and other planes, it was only natural that she would be curious about such things.
"I see... well feel free to rest as long as you need."

"Thank you," Sabor murmured, mustering up a faint smile as he lay down on his bed. The others did the same, and before Kyrie could even get a fire started, they were all fast asleep.
Kyrie's brow was furrowed when she turned away from the fire, and taking care to keep her movements quiet, she approached Lin. "Their village is a four-day journey to the east," she said quietly. "It's more or less on our route. Once they've rested up and we've finished with the dragon, do you mind if we escort them home again?"

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
"Not at all," Lin assured Kyrie, "Are there any preparations that you'd like us to do for them?"
Since they were going to be traveling with them for four days and that didn't even include how long it would take to process the rest of the dragon.

Kyrie shook her head. "I'd ask Miyuki to make up a spare room for them, but they would prefer to sleep outside on the rock anyways," she murmured. "We just need to get this dragon finished."
She looked at the massive creature, which Daeron had been working on all morning. There was still so much to do ...
She looked back at Lin. "Could you ask Miyuki how the new storage room is coming along? It would be best if we could start moving the scales at least inside."

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Lin was about to affirm that request when Miyuki came out looking happy.
"Done! And in half the time it took to do it the first time," she grinned.
Only to find there were extra people around the fire. She tilted her head in confusion because she had been too absorbed in her work to have heard the other voices.

"Shh," Earendil hushed Miyuki gently. "These men are exhausted. They've spent the past several days hunting down the dragon from last night. It killed two-thirds of their party and destroyed their crops."
"Once we're done with the dragon we will escort them home," Kyrie added quietly. "Though their families will be waiting anxiously for them, so I'd like to hurry with the dragon." She pursed her lips thoughtfully. "Do you think Ai could help with taking the scales into the new storage room?"
The smaller scales would weigh only a few pounds, but the heavier ones could weigh over fifty pounds each. If Ai could help with the bigger ones at least, then the others would not be as tired to do the rest of the work and they could go faster.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Miyuki scratched the back of her head sheepishly, even though she didn't know these men were out there.
"Sure," she nodded going for her pokeball.
She had put her Pokemon into their balls so she could work in peace and not get in the way of the harvesting that was going on outside. In a flash of light Ai appeared looking curiously up at her owner.
"We need a bit of help getting the large scales into the storage room," Miyuki explained.
Ai yipped and pranced her way over to where the scales were being gathered. She tilted her head, as a rule Ai was good enough to lift an average Gaian, but more than that was more work. Heaving one into the air, she judged it before lifting up one more and walking back to the tent with the scales following behind her.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Since she was up and about now, Kyrie went back to helping out with the dragon again, and after a while, Mailon also woke and joined her, Wren and Daeron. They worked in silence, broken only by the occasional request for help with something, and the day wore on.
Eventually, others came out as well. Cael knew a bit of taking dragons apart, though his knowledge was predominantly for magical purposes; so when he took parts of the dragon, he took what the others had left. Lancaeriel set about cooking, as now that they had four more mouths to feed she would need to prepare quite a bit. And when, partway through the afternoon, Shoneah also finally ventured out of the tent, intent on helping with the dragon once more, she started visibly, her eyes growing wide, when she saw the four men on the rock beds around the fire pit.
She turned towards the others. "Where did these men come from?" she asked them urgently. "Are there any more of them?"

"They came from the forest, apparently the dragon that was killed last night attacked their village and so they had set off to hunt it," Lin explained while helping with the dragon, "It's just them that were left of that hunting party."
She wondered why Shoneah seemed so urgent when asking.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Shoneah paled slightly. Only four ...
Without explaining anything to Lin, she ran to the side of the man who had made the beds for himself and his companions, knelt beside him, and shook his shoulder. "Sabor," she said urgently, "wake up. Sabor!"
The man groaned and opened one eye sleepily, but when he saw Shoneah he was suddenly wide awake. He gasped and pushed back his blankets, and as he sat up he threw his arms around her.
"Silverbirch!" he exclaimed, hugging her tightly. "You're still alive!" He let go of her and held her at arms' length. "But weren't you supposed to be quite a bit further west of here by now?"
"I found these people who are going to take me and Eron home - but Sabor!" Her tone was just about panicked now. "Where are the others - Tal and Azok and Goren?"
The man opened his mouth to reply, but his eyes filled with tears, and he just shook his head.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
At this point Eron had come out, he had been cloistered inside for a good portion of the day. He forgot how active the earth was in this region and it had been giving him a slight headache. So it was quite surprised upon leaving the tent to see a familiar face.
"Sabor?" Eron blinked and stared.

Sabor looked up when he heard his name again, and despite the tears in his eyes, he smiled. "Eron. You also are safe. I'm glad."
Shoneah looked over her shoulder at Eron. "His people were chasing the dragon that attacked us last night," she told him quietly, her voice wavering slightly. "It attacked his village, too. Tal, Azok, and Goren ..."
She hesitated, her eyes growing moist, and then she took a deep breath. "They didn't make it."
Tal she knew had spent more time with Eron than any of the others, teaching him about skinning animals. She wasn't sure how much Eron was used to death, but even for her, hearing about the deaths of three men whom she had seen only a matter of weeks ago in full health, full of spirit ... it was painful.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
He swallowed audibly, and he couldn't help but feel a bit numb. It was sort of like how you heard someone died in a car crash, it was sudden and unexpected. Especially when you can remember talking to the person not that long ago. Granted it had been months since they had last met, but...
It just wasn't something you expected.
So Eron wasn't sure what to say. Slowly he made his way towards Sabor and Shoneah.
He tried to think of something to say, but he couldn't really. What did one say in a case like this?

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Kyrie had been paying slight attention while she worked on the dragon, but when she saw the exchange between Sabor and the others, she wiped her hands and came to join them again.
"You three all right?" she asked them quietly.
Shoneah turned to Kyrie and nodded slowly. "Sabor and the others were the ones who helped me and Eron when we first arrived in this world," she told her softly. "We ... we knew the men who ... didn't make it."

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
Eron nodded grimly, "We hadn't expected to meet again like this."
While it wouldn't have surprised Eron if they had made it back to the village they started from, it had surprised him to see the hunting party now and in this state. It was quite a sad state.

"No one expects to meet like this," Kyrie murmured, putting a hand on Eron's shoulder comfortingly. She gave it a light squeeze. "But it is not the end for them. They will return someday."
Then she looked at Sabor. "You keep resting," she murmured. "Once we've finished with this dragon, and you and the others have rested up, we'll escort you home again."
Sabor nodded. "Thank you," he said quietly. "I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say we're grateful for your help."

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
It was only when Kyrie mentioned it that Eron noticed that everyone else in the hunting party was asleep.
"We can talk later," Eron added to Sabor quietly.

Sabor nodded at Eron gratefully and lay down again. "Thank you," he murmured. He pulled the blanket back up over his shoulders and closed his eyes, and in no time at all he was asleep.
Shoneah turned to Eron and wiped her eyes with the back of one hand. "I would have never expected us to out-survive them," she said quietly. "Though without these people, I don't think we would have."

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
There was a lump in his throat that seemed to not want to go away, but Eron nodded all the same.
"We've been very luck during our travels when it was just the two of us."
They had been at a great disadvantage during their trip, being alone, not expecting to travel, being in a world not their own... the list went on.
"Is there anything we can do to help?" Eron asked Kyrie.

"Make sure we've got all the food and water we need so that we don't need to stop," Kyrie replied. "That's about it. Unless you'd like to help with the cutting."
She was pretty sure he at least had a hunting knife, from what she could recall about their supplying when they'd been in Makshim. Whether or not he would be able to help, she wasn't sure, but since he had offered his aid, she thought she'd give him the chance.

Re: Wandering Through Wolsic - 119 4A
"I know a bit about prepping and skinning," Eron replied softly.
He had cut meat off of other animals during his time with Tal, mainly because he had nothing to do while others hunted. At night when everyone came back it at least gave him something to do. Skinning wasn't the only thing he had learned during his time with them.
