Miyuki nodded at Atl's question, "It became necessary, Daenis had never traveled away from her home until she began to travel with us. As a result even, even warm weather can be uncomfortable for her. The tropical climate here is very difficult for Daenis, it can make her feel ill after a while. It'll probably be decades before she acclimates to the different weather patterns like her husband has."

She motioned to the snow and ice, answering Nix's question next.

"This can happen in nature, in places that get cold enough. In fact where my mother use to come from, it would be hot weather like outside in the summer and so cold in the winter it would snow. This ice and snow however was created by Malion and Daenis. White Elves have a natural affinity to ice and snow magic."

"Well, I can imagine that if one was so far from home, it would be nice to have a bit of home with you," Nix murmured.

"If someone wants to feel like they're at home so badly," Chelan muttered, turning away from the room, "they should just stay there and not leave."

Atl and Nix both looked sharply at him, and neither of them really knew what to say to that. They glanced at each other again and then followed him away from the room.

Miyuki stared at Chelan's back a bit before closing the door to the couple's room slowly. She mentally counted to ten and reminded herself that as far as she could tell, in their culture it was unthinkable to want to be away from home. Clearly, they had a wonderful home, that was safe and they all fit in...

Finally, as she turned to lead them to the next room, and did not say a thing. Only because Daenis' story was not hers to tell, and she didn't want to get into the details. Not with the kind of history the White Elves had.

Opening the next door, she told the guests, "This is Eron's room."

Not much had changed in Eron's room neither since the last time she shown it. Except on his writing desk was a small piece of Littinum on his desk. Eron had asked that from Shoneah and Andarien for his collection, though he had also been messing with it with no success since it absorbed all his magic."

Chelan chuckled when he spotted the bit of Littinum on Eron's desk.

"Someone trying to do something with that lump?" he asked, clearly recognizing it for what it was. "Useless junk. Can't do a thing with it."

"Reflects light well enough," Atl disagreed gently with his brother.

"It has some interesting properties," Miyuki admitted, "Though admittedly it seems like working with it will be a bit of a lost cause."

Unless Andarien and Shoneah could figure out what to do. Which they might, she had a lot of faith in her brother. Actually, she did wonder if her neko had ever worked with it before.

"Eron practices Earth magic, so he likes to collect mineral samples in his spare time."

"Our only use for it is as a garden centerpiece," Nix told Miyuki with a sad smile. "And the only time we ever collect it is when it somehow shows up in the water."

"It's almost a pity it can't be manipulated," Atl sighed. "It's the only metal that doesn't rust."

Chelan didn't seem interested in Eron's room either, and he was already back in the hallway and ready to continue on.

"My mother has a necklace made with it, but I'm told there are not many smiths who can work with the metal," Miyuki told them as they were exiting the room, "Why that is, or how it is done, no one in the group knows unfortunately. And the only people we know that can, live on another continent. No one in any of the countries we have visited here on this continent so far have seem to have heard of the metal, or at least it's never been mentioned. On the continent where my father comes from, they call it Littinum."

Shoenah's room was across from Eron's, and like Andarien's Miyuki had not seen it since it was first created. Though Miyuki did have memories of making Shoneah choose things out for her room, it was hard to convince the girl at first that it was fine. After all this was going to be her home for the next few years.

"This is Sliverbirch's room," Miyuki explained, "Her name is actually Shoneah, but sometimes it's hard to pronounce. Sliverbirch is a translation of her name."

Shoneah's room was probably more sparse than any other of the bedrooms. Her futon was still on the floor, as it had been from the beginning, and there were only two other pieces of furniture: a chest of drawers, on which was prominently displayed the moving dragon music box that Andarien had made for her; and the short table beside which she would sit cross-legged to make her bullets. The table was mostly clear now, though there was a glass vial of black powder in one corner.

Most of her weapons were leaning neatly against one wall: her bow (unstrung of course), quiver of arrows, sword, the two pistols (holstered) that she had come into this world with, and the pistol that Andarien had made for her. Noticeably missing (for those who knew her) was the knife that she still kept at all times sheathed in the back of her pants.

"Huh...I guess Sliverbirch hadn't added much..." Miyuki murmured.

Though she wasn't surprise, Shoenah seemed determined to just go home, even as she was making connections here. It seemed a bit sad to Miyuki, but she was more worried for her brother.

As 'normal' as Shoneah's room was, it surprised the visitors as much as the others had.

"Has she just joined you, then?" Nix asked curiously, looking around.

There wasn't so much as a rug on the floor, and aside from the mechanical dragon, nothing personal at all.

"No.... she's actually been with us when the tent was first created," Miyuki murmured, "I suspect it's because her focus is on going home. She, Eron and Holly have ended up where they did accidentally, they... and a few others are actually not from this world, or plane. But Sliverbirch, Eron and Holly ended up in this world by accident, by falling through a tear between worlds. Really, they're all just traveling to go home."

Though she suspected even if Eron ended up home, he wasn't going to go back to being a teacher. He often mentioned how nice it was to teach someone about science who actually wanted to learn whenever he was asked a question. He also seemed happy to putter around in the lab now that she thought about it.

As for Holly, Miyuki wasn't sure. Clearly Holly wanted to finish her schooling, but her understanding was Holly was almost done at the time she fell ten years ago. Not only that, but Holly's reasoning for traveling was more for her safety and the fact that she liked experiencing different things. So she would probably go back to Gaia, on the other hand who knew with Holly at this point?

Atl eyed the room once more. "It seems she doesn't care to bring any memories of her time here with her," he quipped.

Then, since there really wasn't anything else left to see in Shoneah's room, he turned back towards the hallway.

Deciding there wasn't anything else to explain, Miyuki closed the door once everyone had moved. Though she did feel Atl did have some truth in his words, though she kind of hoped that the dragon music box was something extra special to Shoneah.

Instead of dwelling on it, she moved onto the next set of rooms. In fact she actually hadn't been in most of these rooms since their creation. She never had to be, and she didn't know what to expect when she opened the room to Lancerial and Cael's room.

Cael and Lancaeriel's room was hardly recognizable from its original appearance. It was now a suite of rooms, as if they'd hidden away an entire house in their rooms. Enough of it was open though that most of it was visible from the doorway. The first room - and the largest, like the living room that everyone shared - had a few stuffed chairs to sit on, one on either side of a square games table. Its top was carved in a grid, and on it were pieces for elven chess in their starting positions.

To the left, a sliding door that took up half the wall was wide open, and in there their sleeping space was visible: a wooden-framed bed with a thick mattress, neatly made with two pillows sitting side-by-side atop the smoothed out blanket. The wall across from the hall door had two sliding doors in it, both open: the one on the left, nearest the bedroom, was a dressing room, with two chests of drawers, a bar with clothes hanging from it on hangers, and a rack of hooks with a few cloaks hanging on it. The door on the right showed Cael's painting studio: an easel with a canvas, half finished, on it; clay jars with brushes, pencils, pens; a glass bottle of ink, and several of different colours of paint; and shelves and shelves of canvases, some completed, others blank.

On the right hand wall there was another door, but this one was only half-open. Still, through it, a large, heavy desk was visible, and on it an enormous tome, open to a a few dozen pages in. There was a quill, a bottle of ink, a blotter, and a sharpening knife, and small white shavings on spattered across the desk coupled with the half-empty state of the ink bottle showed how often it was all used.

All of the walls of course had been painted with various scenes, but only in the bedroom were there any paintings of people. From the hall door, they were too small to be recognized, but there were only three.

"Now this is spacious," Chelan commented, his tone positive.

Atl was impressed. "And lived in," he murmured in admiration.

Miyuki's eyes were bright with interest, it would have never occurred to her to make the rooms true living suites. Though it made sense, since she had already created two rooms for her aunt and uncle, since she figured Amir would one day need a room of his own.

"This is all Cael and Lancaeriel's work," Miyuki announced, "Including the room space."

Though she couldn't tell without stepping in if they had just added more rooms, or if they revamped the whole space completely. Both would have been possible.

"A home inside a home," Nix murmured with a smile. "They are very creative."

She liked the decorations, especially.

"It seems they quite enjoy each others' company," Atl commented. "The work rooms are separate but ... everything else is designed for them to be together."

He wondered just how long they had been together.

Miyuki was a bit confused by this comment, simply because the two were married and while married couples didn't spend all their waking hour together, they did spend a good deal of time together normally... right?

"Well they have been married for.... well many centuries and a few lifetimes," Miyuki replied.

And they had been playing catch up since they found each other again.

"So their love is tested and true," Nix smiled. "That's wonderful. There is a couple back home who are like that, they've been together for so long."

"Actually, I have to admit," Atl smiled, reaching for his wife's hand, "they were the ones who convinced me to propose to Nix." He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back of it lightly.

Chelan chuckled, rolled his eyes, and turned away from the room. "Moving on," he hinted with a grin.

Miyuki smiled at that, that was the most open they had been since the tour started. Moving onto the next room across from the couple was Wren's room.

"This is Wren's room," Miyuki explained as she opened the door.

Despite being a princess, Wren's room was actually the messiest so far. Her bed wasn't made, there were some dirty clothes in heap in one corner, and her writing desk had loose papers and pencils strewn all over it. There was a large mirror leaning against the wall next to her chest of drawers (of which a few were open partway). She had a vanity, the mirror removed (which explained the one on the floor), and on it was her hairbrush and a few other odds and ends.

She had a bit more decoration in the room than Shoneah had had: a rug next to the bed, a painting of her father on one wall, and a small banner with her kingdom's crest - a rearing griffin - hanging just above her bed.

Nix giggled, and there was amusement in Atl's eyes as he commented, "Good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't pick up after myself."

Miyuki blinked, she couldn't imagine functioning in this mess. Who knew her cousin was so messy?

"Huh..."

She couldn't help but wonder if Wren's father could see this mess from the mirror he spoke from.

"At least it's lived in," Miyuki murmured finally, "Shall we move on?"

The next room was the neko twins, and while she wasn't sure how room clean Kaito was, Miyuki figured Shiro would be at least neat. Then again, Shiro worked out of the lab most of the time, so it might not matter.

Since the creation of the lab, the twins hadn't been spending much time in their room, and aside from a baseball on Kaito's futon, everything else seemed to be in place. It was also clear which side of the room belonged to which neko: Shiro's blanket had on it a computer chip (a faithfully embroidered reconstruction done by Iorlas based on an image Shiro had drawn for her) while Kaito's had a sun. Shiro's side of the room had a desk and chair, Kaito's had rows of sports equipment. Only the summer equipment was out at the moment, since there was no use for winter sports equipment at the moment, but he had a baseball bat and glove, tennis racquets and a package of balls, cleats, a soccer ball, volleyball, croquet set, horseshoes, bocce ball set ...

And more.

Aside from that, nothing else was in sight.

The visitors weren't quite sure what to make of that.

"It looks like a room for two where only one lives," Chelan said flatly.

"That's not a surprise," Miyuki admitted, "Shiro spends a lot of time in the lab and I can show you that later. Really all his work is done in the lab, whereas Eron and myself will sometimes do work in our rooms for a change of scenery."

That or Eron just needed a quiet place to think out his formulas sometimes. The man was trying to draw from memory things he hadn't needed as a teacher.

"Kaito on the other hand, is very active and keeps a lot of equipment for the various sports he knows. He rotates on what equipment he keeps out depending on where we are. So if he's feeling like doing something in particular he can quickly grab it.

"They are, twins in fact. Not identical of course..." Miyuki replied.

She knew it was hard to imagine, but if you looked closely at their facial structure, ignoring their wings and their colouration, it was clear that they were related. It was just hard to see if you were looking at them at first glance. Though Holly's presence did make it a little clearer that they looked more like each other than they did to Holly.
