"Think of it like Shiro or Eron," Miyuki suggested to Dareon, "How they started out and then built it up as we went along."

She knew now both of them had pretty impressive work spaces.

"Actually, with all the stuff you both do, we probably should have had a workroom a long time ago," Miyuki added.

"Well, so far I've done well enough with just my bedroom," Shiro grinned, "but yeah, I guess so. Not that I need more to distract me."

Khetal chuckled. "You'll have to tell me about it sometime."

While they were there, those who would be doing the research - Khetal, Shiro and Eron - made a list of all the materials and tools they would need. Daeron asked Miyuki to help him with measurements of the things he would have to make, and they were all kept quite busy for several hours. About midday, Gwen showed up with lunch for them all, and Lynliss joined them for the meal. Then Shiro of course had question after question about the experiments that were going on, and since it was not safe for any of the visitors to wander the city without one of Kyrie's family present, the others ended up waiting for quite a while before they were ready to go back to the tent.

When they arrived, the tent was quiet. Lancaeriel and Daenis were busy setting the table for dinner, but no one else was in sight.

It was quite quiet, but with it possible that everyone was spread out in the tent, not surprising.

"Hey," Miyuki greeted the two in the kitchen, "How were things today?"

She wasn't sure what everyone was up to since the group couldn't really wander without an escort.

"Incredibly quiet," Lancaeriel replied with a smile. "Cael went off on his own - Kyrie said it would be all right, seeing as he's Dark Elven. Andarien and Shoneah went off with Kyrie this morning, they're not back yet. Never heard from anyone else. At least, not until Daenis came out a short while ago."

A blush rose in Daenis' cheeks, and she turned away to get the flatware for the table.

Miyuki tilted her head, because there should be no reason for Daenis to blush.

"Really? I wonder what those three are up to? Or maybe they need more raw goods, they have been working a lot in the forge lately," Miyuki commented.

Especially since Andarien now used pistols.

"Something about looking for materials, I think," Lancaeriel replied dismissively. "Anyways, I'm not sure where people are but it's probably about time they got called for dinner. Khetal, you going to stay?"

"Kyrie's coming back here?" Khetal asked.

Lancaeriel nodded, using two towels to take dinner out of the oven. "Any time, she promised to have Andarien and Shoneah back for dinner."

Khetal smiled. "I'll stay then."

"Good." Lancaeriel beamed. "Then it's just a matter of tracking down the others."

"Well..." Eron murmured, "If we split up, we can track everyone down in good time."

The tent was so big now it would take them a while otherwise.

"Did anyone else leave the tent?" Miyuki asked.

"No one but Cael," Lancaeriel replied simply. "No one else would be able to, except Earendil."

"I'll check bedrooms," Daeron offered, heading down the residential hallway.

Lancaeriel chuckled softly. "Somehow I thought he might." She set the food dish on the table. "Someone to check the gardens? Wren is probably there."

"I'll go," Shiro smiled. "It'll be nice to see the sun again."

While it wasn't dark outside, and it wasn't snowing, the sky had been cloudy for most of the day and it was quite cool. Shiro was the kind of neko who liked sunshine and warmth.

Miyuki wasn't sure what she would do since Shiro and Dareon had called dibs on areas to search. She couldn't go outside because she was clearly not dark elven.

"So... do you need any help setting the table?" Eron asked.

"Well, I think this about does it, unless you'd like to get some fruit to cut up for dessert or something," Lancaeriel suggested with a smile. "We haven't made anything else for dessert yet, and I think Daenis has pretty much everything else ready."

"I think so," Daenis nodded, looking over the table.

"Sure," Miyuki repl4ied, it wasn't like she had anything else to do in the mean time.

It was always hard to wait for everyone to gather because they could be quite spread out in the tent these days. She moved to see what fruit there was to cut up and arrange on a plate.

The others trickled in by ones or twos, or in the case of Daeron and his family, threes. When Mailon entered the room, Khetal stiffened and glared at him, and sat very deliberately on the far side of the table. Daenis was confused by his actions, but before anyone could comment on it, Cael stepped in from outside.

"Pretty nice city you've got here, Khetal," he grinned after greeting his wife with a kiss. "Pity most of the group can't see it."

"Well, the people are what they are," Khetal quipped with a shrug.

"Better sit before the food's gone," Shiro cautioned Cael. "It smells really good tonight."

Kaito laughed. "Doesn't it always?"

Eron laughed, "It always does and we always need to make sure we're not late before all the food is gone."

Especially since having all of them there was like having a large family gathering when it came to food and whether or not anyone would get seconds. Often though there was just enough food for a large meal for each person and that was it.

Still, enough food for them all.

"Come now, I made sure to make enough for everyone," Lancaeriel protested. After a pause, she amended, "We did. Sorry, Daenis."

"It's all right," Daenis replied softly, her eyes on her food.

Just then, Andarien and Shoneah entered the tent, talking together excitedly, and Kyrie followed only a few seconds after them.

"Evening, all," she greeted them cheerfully. Daenis looked up at her, but rather than returning the greeting, she looked nervous.

"How was the trip out?" Lin asked from her spot beside Earendil.

It sounded like the two were up to some sort of project again, though what, she wouldn't imagine. It always seemed like the two were up to something.

It seemed for a moment as if Andarien hadn't heard her at first, but Shoneah nudged him with her elbow and nodded at Lin.

Andarien turned to his mother and grinned widely, his eyes bright behind his lenses. "It was good!" he exclaimed enthusiastically. "We sold a bunch of stuff - one girl really liked the flying dragon musical box - and we got enough money to buy a whole bunch of metals! Now we can do make all kinds of new things - and better things! I haven't seen half of these metals since we left Caras Galadhon, and most of what I did still have was pretty much gone!"

"Overall, the trip was well worth the time," Shoneah interrupted Andarien with a smile, putting one hand on Andarien's shoulder to calm him down.

Kyrie sat down next to her brother, not bothering to wait for an invitation. "Well, you can sure tell which group those two are with," she chuckled softly.

"What group?" Miyuki asked curiously.

It sounded like Kyrie had a specific group of people in mind that had gone off and brought those things. This gave Miyuki a bit of hope though if people were willing to buy from Andarien and Shoneah.

"Your group," Kyrie said flatly. "So fixated on what went right that they ignore what didn't."

"What happened?" Earendil asked, leaning forward curiously.

Andarien wrinkled his nose. "Some people weren't nice."

"Without Kyrie we would not have ended up with anything, I think," Shoneah added with a slight shrug. "We are definitely not welcome in the city."

"I think it may be wise to prepare to leave a bit earlier than two weeks," Kyrie said quietly. "We seem to have kicked up something of a dragon's nest here."

"Really?" Lin was surprised at this.

She wasn't surprised that they had focused on the good rather than the bad, being judged for being different wasn't new to them.

"Did something happen?"

Kyrie shrugged. "There are jerks everywhere. But I was serious when I told you that the White Elves are the only ones with more prejudice against other races than the Dark Elves."

"Though I have the feeling their remarks were more meant for Kyrie than for Andarien or myself," Shoneah commented thoughtfully.

"Probably, considering they all know I'm half-blooded," Kyrie agreed. "They've hated me for a long time."

"What about you, Khetal?" Cael asked, looking over at the man.

Khetal shook his head. "I've been more or less left alone. I look enough like them, I guess they overlook it in me."

"Huh..." Miyuki mused, "That's good at least..."

If a bit weird because it sounded like they cared more about looks than anything else? Then again, she had come to the conclusion this whole thing was weird to begin with.

"So would it be okay for the rest of us to go out as long as we had an escort?" Lin asked.

"As long as you have me or Khetal as an escort," Kyrie agreed. "Or Gwen, Lynliss or Leo - and that reminds me, most of you haven't met Leo yet."

"Probably better to have him come out here than have everyone go through the city again," Khetal suggested.

"Tomorrow then," Kyrie said cheerfully. She pushed her chair back. "And on that note, we should probably be getting home."

"Actually," Daenis spoke up, just about for the first time that evening, "um ... Kyrie ... if you're not in a rush ... can I talk to you?"

Kyrie blinked in surprise. "Sure. Your room?"

Daenis nodded hesitantly and rose, and the two headed off towards the hallway of bedrooms.

It was a curious thing Daenis had requested, but Miyuki figured Daenis just needed advice for something. For what, she didn't know, but a lot of things often were new to Daenis, so it wasn't surprising if she sometimes found herself out of her element.

"I'll help clean up," Lin offered as she got up from her chair to gather the dishes, "Feel free to stay here or wait in the living room if it's more comfortable Khetal."

"Thanks," Khetal smiled, and he moved to do just that. A few of the others also helped to clean up the meal. By the time it was all done, Kyrie was back, and then she and Khetal bid everyone a good night and left.

It was only a few short minutes later when Gwen entered the tent. "Hello?" she called tentatively, looking around for someone.

"Hey!" Miyuki waved and then paused, "You're not looking for Kyrie and Khetal are you? They just left a few minutes ago."

Though she would have thought they would have passed each other by.
